Backstitch for A3 Project Space

The simple backstitch, going forward by two stitches underneath the fabric and then going back one on top, is a stitch that I use along with pencil and pen to create autobiographical maps. Using this stitching manoeuvre as a strategy I will be  re-visiting Digbeth, where I used to have a studio, to explore the public and private, the underneath and the top.
Using A3 Project Space as a base I will explore the geographical areas of Digbeth and Bordesley over the Summer and my immediate physical and human interactions will be translated into the making a series of personal maps.

During my investigations I will share the joy of simple sewing and invite people to join me to stitch together.
